As we close the chapter on 2025, one thing is abundantly clear. This year was fueled by community.
Every bingo card played, every breakfast shared, every dinner ticket purchased, and every raffle supported added up to something much bigger than a single event. Because of the continued generosity and involvement of our neighbors, friends, and families, 2025 became a year of growth, progress, and meaningful impact for the Community Volunteer Fire Company of District 12 in Fairplay.
Serving More Calls Than Ever Before
In 2025, our volunteers answered 643 emergency calls, up from 533 calls in 2024. That is an increase of 110 calls, representing a 20.6 percent rise in call volume year over year.
Behind each call is a neighbor in need. Behind every response is a team of volunteers who are trained, equipped, and ready to serve. As demand increases, the importance of community support grows alongside it, ensuring we can continue to respond quickly, safely, and effectively.
Your Support Turned Into Life-Saving Equipment
Funds raised through community dinners, bingos, raffles, and fund drives in 2025 directly allowed us to make critical investments.
We were proud to welcome a new fire engine into our fleet, strengthening our response capabilities and overall reliability.
We also added a LUCAS device, a life-saving tool that delivers consistent, high-quality chest compressions during cardiac emergencies. In simple terms, this device helps our responders provide continuous CPR when every second matters most, particularly during transport or extended resuscitation efforts.
These upgrades are not small improvements. They are essential investments in the safety and well-being of our community.
Community Events That Brought Us Together
While trainings and internal meetings keep us operational, our community-facing events keep us connected. Throughout 2025, we hosted and supported dozens of public events that welcomed neighbors through our doors and onto our grounds.
Here is a snapshot of what that looked like.
Food and Fellowship
Community Breakfasts held multiple times throughout the year
Chicken BBQs hosted regularly during the warmer months
Specialty dinners including Pork and Sauerkraut, Steak and Potato feeds, and Crab Feeds
Meat Bash fundraisers enjoyed by the community
Bingo and Fundraising Events
Monthly Monday Night Bingos
Luxury Bingo events
Kids Bingo
Specialty Bingo fundraisers
Community Celebrations and Outreach
Trunk-or-Treat
Fall Festival events
Open House and Public Safety Days
Jeep events and community partnerships
School and nonprofit collaborations
Each of these moments mattered. They were more than fundraisers. They were opportunities to build relationships, strengthen trust, and connect with the people we serve.
Looking Ahead to 2026
If 2025 showed us anything, it is what can be accomplished when a community comes together.
In 2026, we look forward to welcoming everyone back for bingos, breakfasts, dinners, Trunk-or-Treat, Fall Festivals, community days, and new opportunities to gather.
There are also important developments on the horizon this year that will play a key role in keeping our community protected and safe. While not everything can be shared just yet, we can confidently say that your continued support is shaping the future of emergency services in Fairplay.
From all of us at the Community Volunteer Fire Company of District 12, thank you for standing with us, supporting our mission, and being an essential part of what makes this work possible.
Here is to another year of service, safety, and community.
